Principal's Message

Welcome to McKemy Academy of International Studies!  

McKemy Academy is an amazing community school of choice and is committed to the International Baccalaureate Middle Years program to provide a unique learning experience for our students. This is possible due in large part to our unique blending of: IB instruction, direct instruction, educational research, and combined with parent involvement and high student expectations. McKemy Academy’s mission statement - Inspire Excellence, Igniting Curiosity, Cultivating Creativity, Encouraging Compassion, Launching Leaders - sums up our desire for those students that participate in our program.  

Students at McKemy Academy are highly motivated academically and have an innate sense of curiosity that drives their desire to learn. Teachers look for ways to foster that curiosity into the application of knowledge. Here at McKemy Academy, we want to challenge students to think and understand, not to just recall an answer. This is highlighted when students culminate their learning with a community project that is showcased at the end of their 8th grade year. 

Furthermore, our educators continuously provide additional learning opportunities for our students to succeed daily through before and after school clubs, enrichment, and tutoring opportunities. McKemy Academy has a unique element that ensures our success – our partnership with our students' families. Our parents and community support our programs and staff with their involvement in daily school functions.
